Have you noticed that the way people are obtaining their informations have been changing rapidly over the decade? In the past, people have been mainly using traditional media such as television, newspaper and radio to acquire informations or advertisements. However, this sources are very limited, unlike social media, which is able to reach out to the whole world.
Companies have been increasingly using Facebook as an advertisment plaform to advertise. To appeal business stakeholders, Facebook created a sponsored stories. However, it could reduces Facebook’s users attractiveness and increases users privacy concerns. Although facebook maybe underperforming on their advertisements, they can still make an impact on customer’s buying decisions. (Mindi Chahal, 2016).
To better develop and understand Facebook audiences, it can be broken down into 4 different segments: entertainment chasers, attention seekers, devotes and connectoin seekers. Marketers can better understand the different behaviours in each segments of target audience on Facebook and build the right target marketing strategy.

Let’s see some real life examples:
- Entertainment chasers- Seeking different entertainments constantly in high frequencies and access the site in short bursts of time repeatedly.

- Attention seekers- Jealousy of their Facebookfriends with their daily glamourous post.

- Connection seekers- they do not share their daily lives on Facebook. However, they will often comment on their friends’ posts.

- Devotees- Highly addicted users who have strong emotional bonds with Facebook.

I will apply the Facebook matrix on the article from (LyfeMarketing) by using the selected insight Facebook marketing strategies.
1.Post Promotion– Using attractive advertisement will drive people to view your page and that segment will be more opportunity to target more customers.

2.Page Likes– Spreading awareness about your brand and encourage your target audience to “like” your Facebook pages provides high interaction betweem audiences and marketers. It can help to reach potential consumers.

3.Engagment app– The app help marketers to generate an actitity on their business website and maintaion exisiting users long term relationship with the business.

4.Website Clicks– This is the best bet for new industry to reach out customers. These campaigns aims to drive traffic from sales page, blog and product page.

Therefore, after learning about Facebook segmentation matrix, I think I fall under the entertainment chasers that enter Facebook to see what’s new and in trend as an entertainment chasers frequenctly at any time of the day. For example, I view my friends posts on Facebook, Facebook provide me endless entertainment everyday, by simply browsing the post, profiles and especially pictures of friends in network.

I hope you have learnt my enthusiasm to share my knowledge with you. Lastly, before you go leave the comments below!
PS: Which of the 4 segments are mostly like you? And what’s your thoughts about the post?
I believe that I’m an entertainment chaser. Before reading your post, l’ve never really thought of myself as a segment of Facebook. But now that I’ve read your post I’ve realised how Facebook have evolve over time as compared to when i first started using it. (probably 10 years back) Facebook has come a long way, and after many years I’ve still come to find myself using it on a daily basis. I feel that over time I’ve change from one segment to another but I’ve never ceased using facebook because it makes me feel like I’m always connected to the people around me in one way or another.

after reading your post, i realized that i’m a dovotee.one reason why i feel so attached to facebook is most probably because it’s a social platform that i’ve used for the longest time. also, it’s the very first social platform i’ve gotten onto as well. it’s the one that introduced me to the world of social medias. even after so many years, facebook never seem to fade away from society and is always keeping up to date with its daily contents. whenever i’m on facebook, i’m still able to see people that i’ve known for many years still going online and posting stuffs. it makes me feel connected all the time. therefore, i feel such a strong connection with facebook.

I think I’m a connection seeker. Given our busy lifestyles, I find it very hard to be able to keep in touch with all my friends all the time. along the way in life, we get to meet many people. but it’s not possible to meet up with all the people that we know all the time and we slowly lost touch as time goes by. However, that’s where facebook comes in. It has always allow to keep in touch with the people i care about every once in awhile. By leaving a comment on their post or tagging them in funny videos. Perhaps by doing so, it’ll allow my friends to know that i’m still thinking of them no matter where I am in life.

After reading your blog, I have learnt a lot, I think I’m belong to “attention seekers” who loved to post stuff on Facebook which is relevant to my personal life and my overseas trip. I post photos most often as well. Facebook allows me to post pictures everywhere every time. This is my way to make me feel like friends and
family is a part of my life. In my opinion, I think potential customer ads are also useful to us because we don’t need to go through so much trouble to sign up for interesting pages.
